A Centenary Concert-WW1 composer Cecil Coles and friends

April 28 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

2018 is the year we commemorate a Centenary of the death of Scottish WW1 composer Cecil Coles, who died near the Somme in 1918. His solo piano music has been never recorded and rarely, if ever, performed. I gave the first performance of his piano music in Cathedral of Millport , Scotland in August 2017. I feel privileged and humbled by the fact that I also am the first to record his all piano music. The Celebratory vinyl should be out later in the year.

Besides Cecil Coles pieces the audience will have a chance to hear his fellow composers George Butterworth, Ivor Gurney, Francis Purcell Warren and Ernest Farrar who either lost their lives or were forever affected by the horror of WW1.

To celebrate these young men lives a young scottish composer Tom Harrold has written a short piano piece in memory of Cecil Coles. I am deeply grateful to Tom for this beautiful gesture and very excited to present this movingly beautiful and probably unknown music to most of you this evening.

We will remember them.
